Saidpur Khurd is a village of Ajnala tehsil in Amritsar district, Punjab, in the Majha region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Ajnala, about 12 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Ajnala community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 037156, and it covers 89 hectares. ## Population and households The 2011 census counted 970 people in Saidpur Khurd: 488 men and 482 women, living in 161 households, an average of about 6.0 people per household. Spread over its 89 hectares, the population density works out to about 1,090 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 988 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 163, about 17 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 951 people, about 98 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded. Literacy in 2011 stood at 28.75 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 42.01 per cent and women at 15.25 per cent. The census recorded 456 workers, about 47 per cent of the village. Of the 451 main workers, the largest group, 355, were agricultural labourers, ahead of 75 cultivators on their own land and 21 other workers in trade, transport and services.
