Sirkapra is a village of Bassi Pathana tehsil in Fatehgarh Sahib district, Punjab, in the Malwa region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Fatehgarh Sahib, about 15 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Khera community development block and is served by the Sirkapur gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 032544, and it covers 153 hectares. ## Population and households The 2011 census counted 636 people in Sirkapra: 334 men and 302 women, living in 107 households, an average of about 5.9 people per household. Spread over its 153 hectares, the population density works out to about 416 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 904 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 100, about 16 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 408 people, about 64 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded. Literacy in 2011 stood at 80.78 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 88.42 per cent and women at 72.11 per cent. The census recorded 199 workers, about 31 per cent of the village. Of the 197 main workers, the largest group, 76, were other workers in trade, transport and services, ahead of 70 agricultural labourers and 50 cultivators on their own land. A further 2 people were marginal workers, employed for only part of the year. ## Land and farming Farming covers most of Sirkapra's land. Of the village's 153 hectares, 138 hectares were net sown area in the 2011 record, and every sown hectare was irrigated. Irrigation came mainly from wells and tube-wells (138 hectares).
