Chhanga Rai Uttar is a village in Guru Harsahai tehsil of Ferozepur district in Punjab, India. It lies in the Malwa region, and the 2011 directory recorded Guru Har Sahai, about 10 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Guru Har Sahai community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 034818, and it covers 505 hectares. ## Population and households The 2011 census counted 3,992 people in Chhanga Rai Uttar: 2,057 men and 1,935 women, living in 737 households, an average of about 5.4 people per household. Spread over its 505 hectares, the population density works out to about 790 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 941 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 529, about 13 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 3,787 people, about 95 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded. Literacy in 2011 stood at 59.51 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 70.84 per cent and women at 47.5 per cent. The census recorded 2,311 workers, about 58 per cent of the village. Of the 1,427 main workers, the largest group, 633, were other workers in trade, transport and services, ahead of 408 agricultural labourers and 369 cultivators on their own land.
