Chhichhrewal is a village in Fatehgarh Churian tehsil of Gurdaspur district in Punjab, India. It lies in the Majha region, and the 2011 directory recorded Fatehgarh Churian, about 10 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Fatehgarh Churian community development block and is served by the Kala Afgana gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 028831, and it covers 34 hectares. ## Population and households The 2011 census counted 1,430 people in Chhichhrewal: 727 men and 703 women, living in 280 households, an average of about 5.1 people per household. Spread over its 34 hectares, the population density works out to about 4,206 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 967 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 186, about 13 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 32 people, about 2 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded. Literacy in 2011 stood at 74.28 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 78.43 per cent and women at 70.06 per cent. The census recorded 395 workers, about 28 per cent of the village. Of the 335 main workers, the largest group, 151, were other workers in trade, transport and services, ahead of 143 cultivators on their own land and 25 household industry workers.
