Mughlani Chak is a village in Dinanagar tehsil of Gurdaspur district in Punjab, India. It lies in the Majha region, and the 2011 directory recorded Dinanagar, about 14 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Dorangala community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 027836, and it covers 18 hectares. ## Population and households The 2011 census counted 274 people in Mughlani Chak: 142 men and 132 women, living in 46 households, an average of about 6.0 people per household. Spread over its 18 hectares, the population density works out to about 1,522 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 930 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 39, about 14 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 150 people, about 55 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded. Literacy in 2011 stood at 78.3 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 83.87 per cent and women at 72.07 per cent. The census recorded 79 workers, about 29 per cent of the village. Of the 75 main workers, the largest group, 60, were other workers in trade, transport and services, ahead of 12 cultivators on their own land and 2 agricultural labourers. A further 4 people were marginal workers, employed for only part of the year. ## Land and farming Farming covers most of Mughlani Chak's land.
