Talwandi (288) is a village in Dinanagar tehsil of Gurdaspur district in Punjab, India. It lies in the Majha region, and the 2011 directory recorded Dinanagar, about 2 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Dinanagar community development block and is served by the Talwandi gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 027854, and it covers 160 hectares. ## Population and households The 2011 census counted 1,146 people in Talwandi (288): 608 men and 538 women, living in 215 households, an average of about 5.3 people per household. Spread over its 160 hectares, the population density works out to about 716 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 885 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 128, about 11 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 565 people, about 49 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded. Literacy in 2011 stood at 82.51 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 89.96 per cent and women at 74.17 per cent. The census recorded 442 workers, about 39 per cent of the village.
