Talwandi Bha-rath is a village in Batala tehsil of Gurdaspur district in Punjab, India. It lies in the Majha region, and the 2011 directory recorded Batala, about 10 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Fatehgarh Churian community development block and is served by the Talwandi Bha-Rath gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 028787, and it covers 213 hectares. ## Population and households The 2011 census counted 3,150 people in Talwandi Bha-rath: 1,666 men and 1,484 women, living in 583 households, an average of about 5.4 people per household. Spread over its 213 hectares, the population density works out to about 1,479 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 891 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 430, about 14 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 1,340 people, about 43 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded. Literacy in 2011 stood at 68.12 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 72.78 per cent and women at 62.97 per cent. The census recorded 973 workers, about 31 per cent of the village. Of the 790 main workers, the largest group, 521, were other workers in trade, transport and services, ahead of 155 cultivators on their own land and 103 agricultural labourers.
