Chahal is a village of Dasua tehsil in Hoshiarpur district, Punjab, in the Doaba region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Urmar Tanda, about 6 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Tanda community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 030704, and it covers 36 hectares. ## Population and households The 2011 census counted 135 people in Chahal: 70 men and 65 women, living in 31 households, an average of about 4.4 people per household. Spread over its 36 hectares, the population density works out to about 375 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 929 women for every 1,000 men.
