Chhanian Kalan is a village in Mukerian tehsil of Hoshiarpur district in Punjab, India. It lies in the Doaba region, and the 2011 directory recorded Mukerian, about 5 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Mukerian community development block and is served by the Chhanian--Kalan gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 031152, and it covers 61 hectares. ## Population and households The 2011 census counted 290 people in Chhanian Kalan: 157 men and 133 women, living in 60 households, an average of about 4.8 people per household. Spread over its 61 hectares, the population density works out to about 475 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 847 women for every 1,000 men.
