Devi Dass is a village in Mukerian tehsil of Hoshiarpur district in Punjab, India. It lies in the Doaba region, and the 2011 directory recorded Mukerian, about 11 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Mukerian community development block and is served by the Davi-Dass198 gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 031062, and it covers 137 hectares. ## Population and households The 2011 census counted 760 people in Devi Dass: 395 men and 365 women, living in 165 households, an average of about 4.6 people per household. Spread over its 137 hectares, the population density works out to about 555 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 924 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 71, about 9 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 279 people, about 37 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded. Literacy in 2011 stood at 86.94 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 92.02 per cent and women at 81.66 per cent. The census recorded 220 workers, about 29 per cent of the village. Of the 189 main workers, the largest group, 78, were other workers in trade, transport and services, ahead of 67 cultivators on their own land and 34 agricultural labourers.
