Hazipur is a village of Hoshiarpur tehsil in Hoshiarpur district, Punjab, in the Doaba region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Hoshiarpur, about 24 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Bhunga community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 031429, and it covers 40 hectares. ## Population and households The 2011 census counted 425 people in Hazipur: 214 men and 211 women, living in 94 households, an average of about 4.5 people per household. Spread over its 40 hectares, the population density works out to about 1,062 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 986 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 30, about 7 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 350 people, about 82 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded. Literacy in 2011 stood at 85.32 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 89.34 per cent and women at 81.31 per cent. The census recorded 93 workers, about 22 per cent of the village. Of the 87 main workers, the largest group, 75, were other workers in trade, transport and services, ahead of 11 cultivators on their own land and 1 agricultural labourers.
