Kotali Bawdass is a village in Hoshiarpur tehsil of Hoshiarpur district in Punjab, India. It lies in the Doaba region, and the 2011 directory recorded Hoshiarpur, about 18 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Hoshiarpur-I community development block and is served by the Kotali--Bawdass gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 031653, and it covers 59 hectares. ## Population and households The 2011 census counted 381 people in Kotali Bawdass: 187 men and 194 women, living in 84 households, an average of about 4.5 people per household. Spread over its 59 hectares, the population density works out to about 646 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 1037 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 36, about 9 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 160 people, about 42 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded. Literacy in 2011 stood at 88.12 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 90.53 per cent and women at 85.8 per cent. The census recorded 92 workers, about 24 per cent of the village. Of the 91 main workers, the largest group, 51, were cultivators on their own land, ahead of 29 other workers in trade, transport and services and 8 agricultural labourers.
