Raju Dawa Khri is a village of Dasua tehsil in Hoshiarpur district, Punjab, in the Doaba region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Dasua, about 9 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Dasua community development block and is served by the Raju--Dawa--Khri gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 030821, and it covers 108 hectares. ## Population and households The 2011 census counted 288 people in Raju Dawa Khri: 142 men and 146 women, living in 52 households, an average of about 5.5 people per household. Spread over its 108 hectares, the population density works out to about 267 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 1028 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 44, about 15 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 154 people, about 53 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded. Literacy in 2011 stood at 70.08 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 76.67 per cent and women at 63.71 per cent. The census recorded 58 workers, about 20 per cent of the village. Of the 36 main workers, the largest group, 24, were other workers in trade, transport and services, ahead of 12 cultivators on their own land. A further 22 people were marginal workers, employed for only part of the year. ## Land and farming Farming covers most of Raju Dawa Khri's land. Of the village's 108 hectares, 79 hectares were net sown area in the 2011 record, and every sown hectare was irrigated. Irrigation came mainly from wells and tube-wells (79 hectares). About 29 hectares were under non-agricultural uses such as the village settlement, roads and ponds. Farm power supply was recorded at 12 hours a day.
