Aujla (116) is a village in Phillaur tehsil of Jalandhar district in Punjab, India. It lies in the Doaba region, and the 2011 directory recorded Nurmahal, about 8 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Nurmahal community development block and is served by the Aujla gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 030045, and it covers 281 hectares. ## Population and households The 2011 census counted 1,693 people in Aujla (116): 869 men and 824 women, living in 337 households, an average of about 5.0 people per household. Spread over its 281 hectares, the population density works out to about 602 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 948 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 175, about 10 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 770 people, about 45 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded. Literacy in 2011 stood at 80.7 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 84.87 per cent and women at 76.29 per cent. The census recorded 562 workers, about 33 per cent of the village.
