Bhoyapur is a village of Shahkot tehsil in Jalandhar district, Punjab, in the Doaba region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Shahkot, about 6 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Shahkot community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 029734, and it covers 131 hectares. ## Population and households The 2011 census counted 678 people in Bhoyapur: 346 men and 332 women, living in 137 households, an average of about 4.9 people per household. Spread over its 131 hectares, the population density works out to about 517 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 960 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 98, about 14 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 642 people, about 95 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded. Literacy in 2011 stood at 61.03 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 70.89 per cent and women at 51.04 per cent. The census recorded 275 workers, about 41 per cent of the village.
