Chak Muglani is a village of Nakodar tehsil in Jalandhar district, Punjab, in the Doaba region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Nakodar, about 3 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Nakodar community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 029950, and it covers 47 hectares. ## Population and households The 2011 census counted 1,153 people in Chak Muglani: 584 men and 569 women, living in 238 households, an average of about 4.8 people per household. Spread over its 47 hectares, the population density works out to about 2,453 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 974 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 132, about 11 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 822 people, about 71 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded. Literacy in 2011 stood at 77.96 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 83.46 per cent and women at 72.26 per cent. The census recorded 383 workers, about 33 per cent of the village. Of the 376 main workers, the largest group, 271, were other workers in trade, transport and services, ahead of 81 cultivators on their own land and 17 agricultural labourers.
