Faridpur is a village of Jalandhar West tehsil in Jalandhar district, Punjab, in the Doaba region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Kartarpur, about 8 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Jalandhar (West) community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 030490, and it covers 115 hectares. ## Population and households The 2011 census counted 663 people in Faridpur: 339 men and 324 women, living in 145 households, an average of about 4.6 people per household. Spread over its 115 hectares, the population density works out to about 577 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 956 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 74, about 11 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 654 people, about 99 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded. Literacy in 2011 stood at 84.04 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 90.27 per cent and women at 77.66 per cent. The census recorded 127 workers, about 19 per cent of the village. Of the 120 main workers, the largest group, 75, were agricultural labourers, ahead of 45 other workers in trade, transport and services.
