Fazalpur is a village of Nakodar tehsil in Jalandhar district, Punjab, in the Doaba region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Nakodar, about 8 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Shahkot community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 029895, and it covers 192 hectares. ## Population and households The 2011 census counted 544 people in Fazalpur: 261 men and 283 women, living in 109 households, an average of about 5.0 people per household. Spread over its 192 hectares, the population density works out to about 284 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 1084 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 52, about 10 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 99 people, about 18 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded. Literacy in 2011 stood at 84.15 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 86.42 per cent and women at 81.93 per cent. The census recorded 164 workers, about 30 per cent of the village. Of the 164 main workers, the largest group, 74, were other workers in trade, transport and services, ahead of 69 cultivators on their own land and 21 agricultural labourers. ## Land and farming Farming covers most of Fazalpur's land.
