Khairulapur is a village of Nakodar tehsil in Jalandhar district, Punjab, in the Doaba region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Nakodar, about 23 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Nakodar community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 029982, and it covers 263 hectares. ## Population and households The 2011 census counted 999 people in Khairulapur: 510 men and 489 women, living in 190 households, an average of about 5.3 people per household. Spread over its 263 hectares, the population density works out to about 380 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 959 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 125, about 13 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 831 people, about 83 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded. Literacy in 2011 stood at 74.03 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 79.3 per cent and women at 68.92 per cent. The census recorded 274 workers, about 27 per cent of the village.
