Mirpur is a village of Jalandhar West tehsil in Jalandhar district, Punjab, in the Doaba region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Jalandhar, about 8 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Jalandhar (West) community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 030455, and it covers 117 hectares. ## Population and households The 2011 census counted 955 people in Mirpur: 519 men and 436 women, living in 187 households, an average of about 5.1 people per household. Spread over its 117 hectares, the population density works out to about 816 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 840 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 80, about 8 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 483 people, about 51 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded. Literacy in 2011 stood at 73.83 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 78.18 per cent and women at 68.73 per cent.
