Mustfapur is a village of Jalandhar West tehsil in Jalandhar district, Punjab, in the Doaba region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Kartarpur, about 8 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Jalandhar (West) community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 030497, and it covers 264 hectares. ## Population and households The 2011 census counted 1,026 people in Mustfapur: 509 men and 517 women, living in 197 households, an average of about 5.2 people per household. Spread over its 264 hectares, the population density works out to about 389 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 1016 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 110, about 11 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 516 people, about 50 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded. Literacy in 2011 stood at 77.84 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 79.87 per cent and women at 75.77 per cent. The census recorded 304 workers, about 30 per cent of the village. Of the 282 main workers, the largest group, 108, were cultivators on their own land, ahead of 89 other workers in trade, transport and services and 76 agricultural labourers. A further 22 people were marginal workers, employed for only part of the year. ## Land and farming Farming covers most of Mustfapur's land. Of the village's 264 hectares, 240 hectares were net sown area in the 2011 record, and every sown hectare was irrigated. Irrigation came mainly from wells and tube-wells (240 hectares).
