Nangal Purdil is a village of Jalandhar East tehsil in Jalandhar district, Punjab, in the Doaba region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Jalandhar, about 5 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Jalandhar (East) community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 030375, and it covers 142 hectares. ## Population and households The 2011 census counted 294 people in Nangal Purdil: 159 men and 135 women, living in 62 households, an average of about 4.7 people per household. Spread over its 142 hectares, the population density works out to about 207 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 849 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 23, about 8 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 168 people, about 57 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded. Literacy in 2011 stood at 77.12 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 83.45 per cent and women at 69.84 per cent.
