Naranwali is a village in Jalandhar West tehsil of Jalandhar district in Punjab, India. It lies in the Doaba region, and the 2011 directory recorded Jalandhar, about 11 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Jalandhar (West) community development block and is served by the Kohala gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 030442, and it covers 204 hectares. ## Population and households The 2011 census counted 154 people in Naranwali: 81 men and 73 women, living in 27 households, an average of about 5.7 people per household. Spread over its 204 hectares, the population density works out to about 75 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 901 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 30, about 19 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 120 people, about 78 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded. Literacy in 2011 stood at 69.35 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 73.44 per cent and women at 65 per cent. The census recorded 76 workers, about 49 per cent of the village. Of the 76 main workers, the largest group, 43, were agricultural labourers, ahead of 24 other workers in trade, transport and services and 9 cultivators on their own land. ## Land and farming Farming covers most of Naranwali's land.
