Panj Dhera is a village of Phillaur tehsil in Jalandhar district, Punjab, in the Doaba region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Phillaur, about 1 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Phillaur community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 030033, and it covers 347 hectares. ## Population and households The 2011 census counted 3,535 people in Panj Dhera: 1,896 men and 1,639 women, living in 690 households, an average of about 5.1 people per household. Spread over its 347 hectares, the population density works out to about 1,020 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 864 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 419, about 12 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 1,528 people, about 43 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded. Literacy in 2011 stood at 75.29 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 80.31 per cent and women at 69.48 per cent. The census recorded 1,179 workers, about 33 per cent of the village. Of the 967 main workers, the largest group, 751, were other workers in trade, transport and services, ahead of 167 cultivators on their own land and 29 agricultural labourers.
