Rahimpur (Nakodar) is a village of Nakodar tehsil in Jalandhar district, Punjab, in the Doaba region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Nakodar, about 15 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Nakodar community development block and is served by the Rahimpur gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 029874, and it covers 251 hectares. ## Population and households The 2011 census counted 1,690 people in Rahimpur (Nakodar): 904 men and 786 women, living in 314 households, an average of about 5.4 people per household. Spread over its 251 hectares, the population density works out to about 673 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 869 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 164, about 10 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 662 people, about 39 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded. Literacy in 2011 stood at 75.43 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 81.87 per cent and women at 68.11 per cent. The census recorded 619 workers, about 37 per cent of the village. Of the 595 main workers, the largest group, 207, were agricultural labourers, ahead of 197 other workers in trade, transport and services and 171 cultivators on their own land. A further 24 people were marginal workers, employed for only part of the year. ## Land and farming Farming covers most of Rahimpur (Nakodar)'s land. Of the village's 251 hectares, 221 hectares were net sown area in the 2011 record, and every sown hectare was irrigated. Irrigation came mainly from wells and tube-wells (221 hectares). About 30 hectares were under non-agricultural uses such as the village settlement, roads and ponds. Farm power supply was recorded at 8 hours a day.
