Sadiqpur is a village of Shahkot tehsil in Jalandhar district, Punjab, in the Doaba region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Shahkot, about 8 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Shahkot community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 029823, and it covers 285 hectares. ## Population and households The 2011 census counted 1,155 people in Sadiqpur: 609 men and 546 women, living in 218 households, an average of about 5.3 people per household. Spread over its 285 hectares, the population density works out to about 405 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 897 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 134, about 12 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 591 people, about 51 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded. Literacy in 2011 stood at 74.53 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 79.55 per cent and women at 69.17 per cent. The census recorded 432 workers, about 37 per cent of the village.
