Salah Nagar is a village of Shahkot tehsil in Jalandhar district, Punjab, in the Doaba region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Shahkot, about 8 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Shahkot community development block and is served by the Salah Nagar ,Gobind Nagar gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 029828, and it covers 763 hectares. ## Population and households The 2011 census counted 2,478 people in Salah Nagar: 1,273 men and 1,205 women, living in 546 households, an average of about 4.5 people per household. Spread over its 763 hectares, the population density works out to about 325 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 947 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 205, about 8 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 934 people, about 38 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded. Literacy in 2011 stood at 77.52 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 81.18 per cent and women at 73.75 per cent. The census recorded 874 workers, about 35 per cent of the village.
