Talwandi Bhilan is a village in Jalandhar West tehsil of Jalandhar district in Punjab, India. It lies in the Doaba region, and the 2011 directory recorded Kartarpur, about 11 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Jalandhar (West) community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 030500, and it covers 237 hectares. ## Population and households The 2011 census counted 658 people in Talwandi Bhilan: 348 men and 310 women, living in 142 households, an average of about 4.6 people per household. Spread over its 237 hectares, the population density works out to about 278 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 891 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 78, about 12 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 346 people, about 53 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded. Literacy in 2011 stood at 73.79 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 76.95 per cent and women at 70.22 per cent. The census recorded 229 workers, about 35 per cent of the village. Of the 224 main workers, the largest group, 87, were cultivators on their own land, ahead of 81 agricultural labourers and 56 other workers in trade, transport and services.
