Talwandi Jhandir is a village of Jalandhar West tehsil in Jalandhar district, Punjab, in the Doaba region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Kartarpur, about 10 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Jalandhar (West) community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 030555, and it covers 78 hectares. ## Population and households The 2011 census counted 372 people in Talwandi Jhandir: 203 men and 169 women, living in 76 households, an average of about 4.9 people per household. Spread over its 78 hectares, the population density works out to about 477 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 833 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 24, about 6 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 219 people, about 59 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded. Literacy in 2011 stood at 75.29 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 80.32 per cent and women at 69.38 per cent.
