Mansurwal Dona is a village in Kapurthala tehsil of Kapurthala district in Punjab, India. It lies in the Doaba region, and the 2011 directory recorded Kapurthala, about 1 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Kapurthala community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 029244, and it covers 402 hectares. ## Population and households The 2011 census counted 644 people in Mansurwal Dona: 340 men and 304 women, living in 124 households, an average of about 5.2 people per household. Spread over its 402 hectares, the population density works out to about 160 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 894 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 90, about 14 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 410 people, about 64 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded. Literacy in 2011 stood at 68.41 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 76.11 per cent and women at 59.77 per cent. The census recorded 243 workers, about 38 per cent of the village. Of the 243 main workers, the largest group, 205, were agricultural labourers, ahead of 28 household industry workers and 9 other workers in trade, transport and services. ## Land and farming Farming covers most of Mansurwal Dona's land. Of the village's 402 hectares, 292 hectares were net sown area in the 2011 record, and 181 hectares of it were irrigated. Irrigation came mainly from wells and tube-wells (181 hectares). About 107 hectares were under non-agricultural uses such as the village settlement, roads and ponds. Farm power supply was recorded at 8 hours a day.
