Rajjowal is a village of Ludhiana West tehsil in Ludhiana district, Punjab, in the Malwa region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Ludhiana, about 8 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Ludhiana-II community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 033641, and it covers 342 hectares. ## Population and households The 2011 census counted 1,394 people in Rajjowal: 728 men and 666 women, living in 296 households, an average of about 4.7 people per household. Spread over its 342 hectares, the population density works out to about 408 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 915 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 181, about 13 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 1,194 people, about 86 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded. Literacy in 2011 stood at 75.93 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 77.53 per cent and women at 74.18 per cent. The census recorded 452 workers, about 32 per cent of the village. Of the 305 main workers, the largest group, 296, were other workers in trade, transport and services, ahead of 5 cultivators on their own land and 4 household industry workers.
