Fatehpur Kanian is a village in Dharamkot tehsil of Moga district in Punjab, India. It lies in the Malwa region, and the 2011 directory recorded Dharamkot, about 9 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Dharamkot community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 034118, and it covers 281 hectares. ## Population and households The 2011 census counted 501 people in Fatehpur Kanian: 253 men and 248 women, living in 83 households, an average of about 6.0 people per household. Spread over its 281 hectares, the population density works out to about 178 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 980 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 53, about 11 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 388 people, about 77 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded. Literacy in 2011 stood at 70.98 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 75.66 per cent and women at 66.22 per cent. The census recorded 154 workers, about 31 per cent of the village. Of the 153 main workers, the largest group, 78, were cultivators on their own land, ahead of 59 agricultural labourers and 15 other workers in trade, transport and services.
