Beli Chahngan is a village of Pathankot tehsil in Pathankot district, Punjab, in the Majha region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Pathankot, about 14 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Pathankot community development block and is served by the Bhoor gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 027496, and it covers 132 hectares. ## Population and households The 2011 census counted 287 people in Beli Chahngan: 152 men and 135 women, living in 54 households, an average of about 5.3 people per household. Spread over its 132 hectares, the population density works out to about 217 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 888 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 21, about 7 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 58 people, about 20 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded. Literacy in 2011 stood at 87.22 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 92.03 per cent and women at 82.03 per cent. The census recorded 123 workers, about 43 per cent of the village. Of the 92 main workers, the largest group, 73, were other workers in trade, transport and services, ahead of 19 cultivators on their own land.
