Bhunder Heri is a village of Patiala tehsil in Patiala district, Punjab, in the Malwa region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Sanaur, about 15 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Bhunerheri community development block and is served by the Bhunderheri gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 036669, and it covers 438 hectares. ## Population and households The 2011 census counted 2,771 people in Bhunder Heri: 1,448 men and 1,323 women, living in 545 households, an average of about 5.1 people per household. Spread over its 438 hectares, the population density works out to about 633 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 914 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 335, about 12 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 688 people, about 25 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded. Literacy in 2011 stood at 76.15 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 82.44 per cent and women at 69.3 per cent. The census recorded 1,168 workers, about 42 per cent of the village. Of the 712 main workers, the largest group, 365, were other workers in trade, transport and services, ahead of 156 agricultural labourers and 129 cultivators on their own land. A further 456 people were marginal workers, employed for only part of the year. ## Land and farming Farming covers most of Bhunder Heri's land.
