Hirdapur is a village of Patiala tehsil in Patiala district, Punjab, in the Malwa region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Patiala, about 14 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Patiala community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 036514, and it covers 241 hectares. ## Population and households The 2011 census counted 697 people in Hirdapur: 379 men and 318 women, living in 135 households, an average of about 5.2 people per household. Spread over its 241 hectares, the population density works out to about 289 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 839 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 67, about 10 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 321 people, about 46 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded. Literacy in 2011 stood at 66.03 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 73.04 per cent and women at 57.54 per cent. The census recorded 241 workers, about 35 per cent of the village. Of the 239 main workers, the largest group, 146, were other workers in trade, transport and services, ahead of 92 cultivators on their own land and 1 household industry workers.
