Malkana is a village in Samana tehsil of Patiala district in Punjab, India. It lies in the Malwa region, and the 2011 directory recorded Samana, about 4 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Samana community development block and is served by the Malkhana gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 036188, and it covers 620 hectares. ## Population and households The 2011 census counted 391 people in Malkana: 205 men and 186 women, living in 80 households, an average of about 4.9 people per household. Spread over its 620 hectares, the population density works out to about 63 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 907 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 39, about 10 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 1 people, about 0 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.
