Madan Heri is a village of Kharar tehsil in SAS Nagar district, Punjab, in the Puadh region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Kharar, about 8 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Kharar community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 039116, and it covers 149 hectares. ## Population and households The 2011 census counted 861 people in Madan Heri: 463 men and 398 women, living in 161 households, an average of about 5.3 people per household. Spread over its 149 hectares, the population density works out to about 578 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 860 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 69, about 8 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 223 people, about 26 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded. Literacy in 2011 stood at 87.25 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 91.75 per cent and women at 82.07 per cent. The census recorded 275 workers, about 32 per cent of the village. Of the 269 main workers, the largest group, 153, were other workers in trade, transport and services, ahead of 99 cultivators on their own land and 10 agricultural labourers.
