Mehndipur is a village in Nawanshahr tehsil of SBS Nagar district in Punjab, India. It lies in the Doaba region, and the 2011 directory recorded Rahon, about 7 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Nawanshahr community development block and is served by the Mahindi Pur gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 032294, and it covers 73 hectares. ## Population and households The 2011 census counted 84 people in Mehndipur: 48 men and 36 women, living in 20 households, an average of about 4.2 people per household. Spread over its 73 hectares, the population density works out to about 115 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 750 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 11, about 13 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 75 people, about 89 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded. Literacy in 2011 stood at 83.56 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 88.1 per cent and women at 77.42 per cent. The census recorded 26 workers, about 31 per cent of the village.
