Roohno is a village in Balachaur tehsil of SBS Nagar district in Punjab, India. It lies in the Doaba region, and the 2011 directory recorded Balachaur, about 4 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Balachaur community development block and is served by the Ruhno gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 032412, and it covers 158 hectares. ## Population and households The 2011 census counted 250 people in Roohno: 150 men and 100 women, living in 57 households, an average of about 4.4 people per household. Spread over its 158 hectares, the population density works out to about 158 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 667 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 47, about 19 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 150 people, about 60 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded. Literacy in 2011 stood at 60.1 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 70.59 per cent and women at 45.24 per cent. The census recorded 87 workers, about 35 per cent of the village. Of the 85 main workers, the largest group, 57, were other workers in trade, transport and services, ahead of 17 agricultural labourers and 6 cultivators on their own land.
