Kalsian Khurd is a village of Patti tehsil in Tarn Taran district, Punjab, in the Majha region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Patti, about 28 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Bhikhiwind community development block and is served by the Kalsia Khurd gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 038053, and it covers 336 hectares. ## Population and households The 2011 census counted 1,521 people in Kalsian Khurd: 801 men and 720 women, living in 290 households, an average of about 5.2 people per household. Spread over its 336 hectares, the population density works out to about 453 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 899 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 188, about 12 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 621 people, about 41 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded. Literacy in 2011 stood at 63.32 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 72.04 per cent and women at 53.64 per cent. The census recorded 494 workers, about 32 per cent of the village. Of the 311 main workers, the largest group, 124, were other workers in trade, transport and services, ahead of 96 agricultural labourers and 88 cultivators on their own land.
