Kiri Shahi is a village of Khadur Sahib tehsil in Tarn Taran district, Punjab, in the Majha region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Patti, about 19 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Khadur Sahib community development block and is served by the Kiri Shahi gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 038287, and it covers 234 hectares. ## Population and households The 2011 census counted 1,209 people in Kiri Shahi: 645 men and 564 women, living in 240 households, an average of about 5.0 people per household. Spread over its 234 hectares, the population density works out to about 517 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 874 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 173, about 14 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 686 people, about 57 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded. Literacy in 2011 stood at 66.41 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 69.53 per cent and women at 62.91 per cent. The census recorded 463 workers, about 38 per cent of the village. Of the 463 main workers, the largest group, 279, were agricultural labourers, ahead of 116 cultivators on their own land and 66 other workers in trade, transport and services. ## Land and farming Farming covers most of Kiri Shahi's land.
