Kot Dharam Chand Kalan is a village of Tarn Taran tehsil in Tarn Taran district, Punjab, in the Majha region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Tarn Taran, about 14 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Tarn Taran community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 037893, and it covers 720 hectares. ## Population and households The 2011 census counted 3,955 people in Kot Dharam Chand Kalan: 2,118 men and 1,837 women, living in 706 households, an average of about 5.6 people per household. Spread over its 720 hectares, the population density works out to about 549 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 867 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 403, about 10 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 1,569 people, about 40 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded. Literacy in 2011 stood at 68.13 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 74.11 per cent and women at 61.37 per cent. The census recorded 1,526 workers, about 39 per cent of the village. Of the 1,290 main workers, the largest group, 757, were other workers in trade, transport and services, ahead of 389 cultivators on their own land and 105 agricultural labourers.
