All 11 men arrested over the firing on actor Tiger Shroff's car in Mumbai were re-arrested under the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, after a special court allowed the Mumbai Crime Branch to proceed under the law. They are due back in court on Thursday, when police are expected to seek remand. ## What did the court allow? The Crime Branch had invoked MCOCA against all accused on Tuesday after approval from the competent authority. On Wednesday the prosecution moved an application before the special MCOCA court seeking permission to re-arrest the accused under the new provisions, and the court granted it, according to The Hindu and The Indian Express. ## What is the case? The case was registered on October 19\. It originally covered attempt to murder under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and sections of the Arms Act. Police say two assailants opened fire on the actor's car in Mumbai's Juhu area on October 18 as he left a football ground. Five rounds were fired. The actor escaped largely unhurt, while his driver and a bystander were injured. ## Who is behind it, according to police? Members of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang subsequently claimed responsibility, and police have named Anil Pandit, described as an associate of the jailed gangster, as a wanted accused. Of the 11 arrested, three were picked up in Kota, Rajasthan, and the rest from places including Delhi, Haryana and Madhya Pradesh. Investigators suspect a wider organised conspiracy aimed at financial and territorial dominance and spreading fear. These are police allegations; nothing has been proved in court. ## Why does MCOCA matter? MCOCA brings stricter bail conditions and gives investigators more time to file a chargesheet, subject to judicial approval. It is normally used against organised crime syndicates. ## What happens next? The 11 accused will be produced before the court on October 29, where the Crime Branch is expected to seek police remand. Investigation is continuing. ## When was Tiger Shroff's car fired at? On October 18, 2026, in Juhu, Mumbai. ## Which law has been invoked against the accused? Sections 3(1)(ii), 3(2) and 3(4) of MCOCA, added to the existing attempt-to-murder and Arms Act charges. ## Was anyone hurt in the firing? The actor escaped largely unhurt; his driver and a bystander were injured. **Jugti is free and independent.** Reader support keeps Jugti going.
