Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has said he would like to attend the fourth World Punjabi Conference in Lahore, but doubts the Centre would let him travel to Pakistan. Dawn reported on Sunday, 25 October, that organisers have welcomed his remark, which he made in the Vidhan Sabha on Friday, 23 October. ## What did Mann say in the Assembly? Mann told the House that the organisers had invited him and offered to host him. "The Central Government does not allow me to go to countries like France and Japan. How will they give me permission to go to Pakistan?" he said, according to Babushahi and The Times of India. The Tribune reported that he named organiser Baba Najmi among those who invited him. ## What did the Speaker and MLAs say? Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan joked, "If you get permission, take us along as well," and several MLAs backed him, Dawn and BBC Urdu reported.
