Where is Raike Kalan?

Raike Kalan is a village of Bathinda tehsil in Bathinda district, Punjab, in the Malwa region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Sangat, about 15 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Sangat community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 035817, and it covers 1,743 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 5,200 people in Raike Kalan: 2,700 men and 2,500 women, living in 1,035 households, an average of about 5.0 people per household. Spread over its 1,743 hectares, the population density works out to about 298 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 926 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 596, about 11 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 2,156 people, about 41 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 61.95 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 69.54 per cent and women at 53.84 per cent. The census recorded 2,402 workers, about 46 per cent of the village.
