Where is Binjjal?

Binjjal is a village of Dudhan Sadhan tehsil in Patiala district, Punjab, in the Malwa region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Sanaur, about 28 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Bhunerheri community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 036745, and it covers 490 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 2,694 people in Binjjal: 1,421 men and 1,273 women, living in 459 households, an average of about 5.9 people per household. Spread over its 490 hectares, the population density works out to about 550 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 896 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 320, about 12 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 215 people, about 8 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 69.76 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 75.45 per cent and women at 63.6 per cent.
