Where is Malakpur?

Malakpur is a village in Dera Baba Nanak tehsil of Gurdaspur district in Punjab, India. It lies in the Majha region, and the 2011 directory recorded Batala, about 16 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Dera Baba Nanak community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 028874, and it covers 85 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 425 people in Malakpur: 219 men and 206 women, living in 85 households, an average of about 5.0 people per household. Spread over its 85 hectares, the population density works out to about 500 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 941 women for every 1,000 men.
