Naushehra is a village of Dinanagar tehsil in Gurdaspur district, Punjab, in the Majha region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Gurdaspur, about 9 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Gurdaspur community development block and is served by the Nawan Naushera gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 028296, and it covers 197 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 2,940 people in Naushehra: 1,479 men and 1,461 women, living in 613 households, an average of about 4.8 people per household. Spread over its 197 hectares, the population density works out to about 1,492 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 988 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 329, about 11 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 222 people, about 8 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.
