Kohar Khurd is a village of Shahkot tehsil in Jalandhar district, Punjab, in the Doaba region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Shahkot, about 7 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Shahkot community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 029745, and it covers 128 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 319 people in Kohar Khurd: 169 men and 150 women, living in 61 households, an average of about 5.2 people per household. Spread over its 128 hectares, the population density works out to about 249 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 888 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 31, about 10 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 100 people, about 31 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 80.56 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 81.58 per cent and women at 79.41 per cent. The census recorded 209 workers, about 66 per cent of the village.
