Where is Rauli?

Rauli is a village of Nakodar tehsil in Jalandhar district, Punjab, in the Doaba region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Nakodar, about 8 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Nakodar community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 029972, and it covers 203 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 967 people in Rauli: 499 men and 468 women, living in 197 households, an average of about 4.9 people per household. Spread over its 203 hectares, the population density works out to about 476 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 938 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 86, about 9 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 462 people, about 48 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 72.42 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 76.81 per cent and women at 67.69 per cent. The census recorded 321 workers, about 33 per cent of the village.
